I have a serious question: Does Action Lab Comics still exist?
The Action Lab website is currently offline, displaying a landing page for its webhosting company, and the company’s Twitter account hasn’t made an original post since September 2021.
According to the Midtown Comics website, Action Lab has only published SEVEN single issue comics in the last 15 months and NOTHING since July 2022.
They didn’t attend the ComicsPro meeting last month despite them being held in Pittsburgh where both the publisher and EIC reside.
Action Lab’s other social media (Instagram and Facebook) have also gone cold.
And, rightly so, it appears that their attempt to publish a #FreeComicBookDay issue of Jeremy Whitley’s Princeless for 2023 has been scuttled.
So I ask again… Does Action Lab still exist?
And it’s a valid question. It’s no secret that over 40 creators, myself included, launched a class action lawsuit against Action Lab Entertainment in order to regain rights to our IP after years of the company’s terrible practices.
The lawsuit is still ongoing.
If the company is dead or dying, the decent thing to do would be to settle with those creators and give us back our creations. But instead, they hold on to them, siphoning whatever few pennies trickle in via Comixology Unlimited.
Do the right thing, Action Lab. Settle the lawsuit, give us back our IP and let us all go our separate ways in peace.
