At the end of last year, I created and posted my (almost) Definitive List of Canadian Comic Book Conventions. It was equal parts self-serving (I was researching comic conventions I might try to apply to) and community minded (because why not share the information with peers and fans). I find myself in a similar situation now as I look for Black-owned local comic shops across Canada and the United States that I would like to partner with as I move forward with Heroes of Homeroom C volumes 2 and 3.
This list will, hopefully, evolve and grow. It may expand, in the future, to include more BIPOC shops but for now I want to focus on those aforementioned, brick-and-mortar local comic shops where readers can go for their monthly fix of Miles Morales or RiRi Williams or John Stewart. I also want to include some bookstores that feature graphic novels by Black creators and/or about Black characters and culture.
